Like he talks about his high empathy, how he’s always been overly sensitive to other people’s emotions and how that negatively impacted him. If someone was upset or angry he’d be just as upset or angry with them and like that’s not his fault he’s a guy with big emotions and he clearly did not know how to handle that AT ALL. I’m sure growing up he’s always had a real problem with boundaries for others because of how he says he “chased after” Hoder and her light and I wouldn’t be surprised if he had grown to have an obsession with light versus darkness. Also would explain why Baldr chased after Hoder in Enchanted Dominion tbh I’m sure he hated being away from her,
To me this doesn’t feel like All That came out of nowhere– maybe to people that didn’t know him that well but I really think that in retrospect, Hoder probably could’ve seen something like this happening. At the end when Hoder and Baldr have their little moment, it really gives off the vibe that Baldr had talked about some of his feelings with her before. The way she says she wanted to be there for him, to tell him the world isn’t so bad, and the way Baldr says “I knew you’d never understand.” It makes me feel like they’ve had this kind of conversation before. They turn on each other SO FAST!!!! Clearly a dead end conversation– just talking to a brick wall and both of them were aware of it. I’m sure it was another tired old conversation they had had a million times. He said he felt safe with Hoder so why wouldn’t he have talked about it with her yknow?
So really I just think Baldr has felt this way for a long time, he was just finally pushed over the edge.
